Formaldehyde is used in the manufacture of a number of “under-the-hood components” as well as seat belt buckles, exterior primers and clear coat paints, tire cord adhesive, brake pads, and critical fuel system components.

Formaldehyde-based plastics are used instead of metals because they are recyclable, durable and anti-static. They are also lighter, more resilient and last longer.
