  BRUSSELS, 27 APRIL 2012 – Five years after the 1^st International Formaldehyde Science Conference (Barcelona 2007), leading academics and scientists met in Madrid on 19-20 April to debate the latest scientific research on the toxicity and carcinogenicity of formaldehyde.

  European regulators are preparing a reassessment of the hazard classification of formaldehyde – currently classified as a “suspected carcinogen” under European law.  In this perspective, the 2^nd International Formaldehyde Science Conference brought together the authors of the latest research on formaldehyde for an open debate, which highlighted enduring discrepancies on the interpretation of the data within the academic community.
